Yahtzee-6

Yahtzee for the Twenty-First Century!

It was probably last year when someone said in my presence, "I wonder how you'd play Yahtzee with six dice". I mulled that one over for a few minutes before deciding I didn't want to tackle it then. Then, in the summer of 2003, I decided why not? I sat down and scribbled out the additions that would need to be made. I came up with three new types of scoring combinations, redid a couple of the scores on existing types, and decided six dice needed four rolls instead of the traditional three. The result was what I decided to call Yahtzee-6, and it took less time to make the necessary revisions to my game than it did to debug it! Thanks to all of those at The Pond and Silvery Seas who beta-tested for me. Below are links to what I have available. Each link is a zip file containing a pat file excerpt for the script (don't forget to check the room id!) and all of the graphics needed for each one.

And a final note on the graphics themselves. I owe Tybalt and Speck a great deal of thanks for countless hours and seemingly endless frustration spent in not just generating ideas (thanks, Ty, for those!) but for making sure every last graphic fit the theme perfectly.

The Yahtzee - 6 files

Modern Art Yahtzee: The first scheme created. Brightly colored furniture with steel-brushed gray background.

Rainbow Frog Yahtzee: Ribbit! A frog on a lilypad, in a truly psychedelic pond and board.

Corral Yahtzee: Saddle up, partner! A lovely wooden board with an Old West corral and beautiful pink sunset.

Yahtzee Swings: My personal favorite. Wooden swings with vine ropes on a beach.

Egyptian Yahtzee: Who dares enter the tomb of the ancient Pharoah? Egyptian style room with gray embossed style board. Has really neat spinning dice pictures.
